This interactive spreadsheet enables searching BHMA finish codes and their corresponding descriptions and categorizations.

To be included in the categorizations within the A156.18 Material and Finishes Standard, finishes must be produced by at least three manufacturers and are assigned a number starting at 600. New sequential numbers are added as needed when requested by at least three manufacturers, ensuring industry-wide relevance while preventing unnecessary proliferation of finish codes.

Excluded from the Lookup:

Numbers 001 through 599 are reserved for individual manufacturers to designate their unique finishes. Manufacturers may either use these reserved numbers or establish their own designations and descriptions.

Custom Finishes  BHMA Code Number ‘000’ is reserved for manufacturers to specify a custom finish.  These are unique to a given manufacture and the finish descriptions and base material follows their specification.  Typically, there is not a visual equivalent to a previously assigned BHMA code.
