Other Door Fastening Devices

(Covered In ANSI/BHMA Standard A156.16)

Chain Door Guard. A connectable device used to limit the extent to which a door can be opened.

Door Bolt or Fastener. A mechanical device operable from one side of the door and used to fasten the door in a closed position.

Roller Latch. A mechanical device used to fasten a door by means of a rolling plunger which engages a socket or catch. These have become somewhat obsolete where selfclosing or automatic closing is used due to the resistance a roller latch provides against complete door closing. They are not permitted in health care facilities under some codes.

Get Certified

Participate in the BHMA® Certification Program by voluntarily submitting a hardware product to independent laboratory testing to confirm that it fully meets the criteria of the appropriate ANSI/BHMA® standard.  This industry-wide certification program does not call for a manufacturer to be a BHMA® member in order to certify its products.
